INDIANAPOLIS – Before the 2016 season ended, Mike Adams cleared up any cloudiness regarding him wanting to play a 14th year in the NFL.

“I intend on playing,” Adams said days before the season finale.

“I still have some gas left in the tank and I plan on riding this until the wheels fall off.”

Adams, who will turn 36 in March, isn’t ready to embark on post-NFL life just yet.

Will another NFL season be in Indianapolis?

The Colts have gotten more than they could have dreamed from Adams.

Signed in June of 2014, Adams went from a camp body to a starting safety each of the last three seasons.

Adams’ 10 interceptions in 2014-15 earned him Pro Bowl honors.

But the game-changing plays for Adams decreased this past season.

The Colts have looked to the future at safety in each of the last two drafts (2015-4th Round-Clayton Geathers, 2016-2nd Round-T.J. Green).

But there are questions on if both of those guys will start at safety next season.

-Are the Colts seriously entertaining the idea of moving Geathers to linebacker?

-After some rookie struggles, is Green ready for a full-time starter role in his second NFL season?

The questions at safety don’t end there.

Versatile defensive back Darius Butler (turns 31 in March) is also a free agent in 2017. Butler sliding back to safety in a pinch this past season was huge for what the Colts needed defensively.

How the Colts view these situations will impact how much they want Adams back for a fourth season in Indy, and a 14th season overall.
