We’re past the halfway point of Training camp and one step closer to the regular season. That being the case the roster cuts are going be coming soon. We know Miami is deep at WR and some good players aren’t going to make the team. Some notable players on the roster bubble are going to get cut, but will produce for whatever team picks them up. On the injury front Charles Clay and Knowshon Moreno are both in full participation, Clay with a brace on his right knee. Let’s see how the local beat writers portrayed today’s practice:
Greg Likens – Shelley Smith remains with the 1st-team offensive line at right guard #Dolphins
Adam Beasley – Hmmm…interesting. Jarvis Landry in the slot with the starters over Gibson during 11-on-11s.
James Walker – #Dolphins rookie Jordan Tripp gets a look with the first-team LBs in team drills. #Interesting
Omar Kelly – Jimmy Wilson just picked off Brady Quinn. JIMMY MAKES PLAYS!
Adam Beasley – Damian Williams gets behind Will Davis on a go-route in 1-on-1s.
Andrew Abramson – Armon Binns and WR Damian Williams each with a nice deep catch from Tannehill in throwing drills.
Omar Kelly – Kevin Fogg gets Brady Quinn on a pick 6. Told you Quinn would help these DBs get better. His throwing motion is flawed. You can jump it.
Omar Kelly – Michael Egnew with a nice seam route catch from Seth Lobato.
Omar Kelly – Brent Grimes with a breakup of a pass intended for Armon Binns. Grimes has got that glow lately. Got beat for TD on Saturday. Redemption?
James Walker – #Dolphins WR Damian Williams with another deep catch from QB Ryan Tannehill, this time in team drills.
Omar Kelly – After Will Davis dropped an INT Brent Grimes made him do his push ups. 10 for every dropped pass.
James Walker – For the second straight week, Dolphins S @Michael31Thomas makes a BIG hit in practice. This time Thomas makes WR Armon Binns fumble.
Armando Salguero – Jarvis Landry catches short crossing pass. Reshad Jones blows him up. Landry flings ball at him. Jones walks away laughing
Omar Kelly – Michael Egnew brings in a nice 1st down catch on Andrew Wilson. Tannehill zips it in.
Omar Kelly – Chris McCain beat his man on a blitz, rushed Quinn’s throw and he throws another INT to Kevin Fogg. His second of the day.
James Walker – #Dolphins WR Armon Binns with a drop. He’s frustrated after the play.
Really expected Billy Turner to get a call up to the 1’s after Dallas Thomas’ horrible outing vs. Gerald McCoy of the Buccaneers. Looks like Philbin and co still aren’t comfortable with his pass protection mechanics. Landry and Tripp both getting the call up is no surprise. Keep your eye out for rookie UDFA Chris McCain to move up the LB depth chart with Tripp.
Bubble watch: Egnew is trending up as he made the “catch of practice”, but it may be too little too late. Also looks like Damian Williams is going to snag that #6 WR spot from Binns. Brady Quinn is proving to be nothing more than a camp body.
