Fins Draft 2.0

Fins Draft 2.0
class="post-date-wrap left relative post-date-mob">

College All Star games are in full gear and the Combine is about a month away.

1) Eddie Goldman DT from FSU

Odrick might not come back and the interior defensive line for the Fins last year wasn’t a real strength for the team.  Eddie Goldman was disruptive his 2014 season at FSU and he was one of the very few bright spots on a horrible defense.  Standing at 6’4 320 he is quick for his size and could be an interior pass rusher as well as a run stuffer. Goldman would be an immediate impact and help a defense that forgot how to stop anyone the last part of the season.

2nd) AJ Cann OG from South Carolina

The interior offense line is still a position that the Fins need to improve. Cann is 6’4 311 and is good at run and pass blocking especially bull rushes. He posses good instincts and would come in at left guard immediately and stabilize it.

3rd) John Miller OG from Louisville

Experienced guard who was the Strong Side Guard at Louisville (Mike Mayok said that 79 times on Saturday) which means he has played both right and left guard.. He is a very physical guard as he is able to get a lot of push in run blocking and move defenders in pass blocking. He had an excellent Shrine Game and this is shooting him up to the 3rd round. He could play Right Guard in a pinch and by doubling up at guard, the Fins might answer their guard problem for the next 4 years.

4th) Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB from Oregon

Ifo was considered a 1st round pick for a knee injury caused him to miss Oregon’s two bowl games and will cause him to miss the draft workouts.  He isn’t huge at 5’9 but he plays bigger than that and he is very good at man and zone. The Fins could redshirt him if need be or he can come in once healthy and start at as a nickel CB. You can never have too many corners.

5th) Jesse James TE from Penn State

The Fins struggled in red zone and part of that was due to lack of size at WR and TE. Jesse is huge at 6’7 and is also a pretty good blocker. He is still developing as a complete receiving threat but he can initially be used a red zone target or blocking back as he develops his game.

6th) Jake Ryan LB from Michigan

Ryan is a 2-down LB who is very good against the run but should never be used in passing situations. At the very least he gives the Fins another reason not to play Ellerbee or Wheeler.

7th) Terrance McGee RB from LSU

RB is a position the Fins could look at as they could use another back outside of Lamar Miller. McGee was used in a RB rotation at LSU and he is decent in all aspects of being a running back but not really elite. If the Fins get lucky he could be similar to Alfred Blue last year but it wouldn’t hurt to use a 7th round pick on another RB.
