Live from Super Bowl Boulevard in NYC!

Ice Sculpture along Broadway

Talk Ice Sculpture along Broadway

Talk to anyone who lives in New York City and the first thing you find out is to avoid Times Square like the plague, but with Super Bowl XLVIII in town, it’s a completely different story. The NFL has transformed Broadway into Super Bowl Boulevard. A 13 block strip between 34th and 47th streets full of games, celebrities, and media for every fan to enjoy. Thousands of people from all fan bases are in town to come together and celebrate this event.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy

I attempted an NFL Extra Point (and in true Buffalo form, went wide right). I took a photo of the Lombardi trophy (could have been WITH the Lombardi Trophy, but I didn’t want to wait for an hour and a half). I even met Xbox Live’s Major Nelson (if you play Xbox, you should know who that is). There’s also a 5 story toboggan run that you can ride for $5. NFL Superstars from past and present were in stores and tents all along the street signing autographs for those who were patient  enough to wait for them. It’s FANdemonium out here and this is a huge chance for this city to prove that the Super Bowl can be successful in cold weather. Judging by the number of people out here, I don’t think the cold weather has had any negative effect on the fans or their passion for the game.

CJ Stands tall over Times Square

I even ran into CJ while I was out on the streets. Whether you’re rooting for the Broncos or the Seahawks this Sunday doesn’t matter out here. Even Jets and Giants fans are getting along (Dogs and cats living together…. MASS HYSTERIA!). The fans are just happy to be here. And NYC, the city that never sleeps, is happy to oblige as host. If you live in the area and you haven’t gotten down here, do it. It’s not every year like New Orleans or Miami or insert warm weather/domed stadium here, that we get a chance to experience this. Who knows, it could even be the last

.Side Note: For those of you who don’t know, the Super Bowl is not the only football event on TV on Sunday. No, I’m not talking about the Lingerie Bowl. No, I’m not talking about the Bud Bowl (do they still do that?). This, my friends, is the Cutest show on turf, Puppy Bowl X.

Perfect for your wives and kids who don’t want to spend hours watching pregame coverage like we all might. Animal Planet airs their 10th Puppy Bowl at 3PM EST on Sunday for lovable, playful and adorable puppies and kittens. This event also had a sponsored event in NYC this week on 44th Street right off from Times Square. I was lucky enough to work on it and get a killer staff shirt and here’s a small dose of adorable for you.
