Sunday's game between Pittsburgh and Tennessee has been postponed to either Monday or Tuesday to allow for further COVID-19 testing after positive tests this week from four Titans players and five team personnel members.
NFL Players Association president JC Tretter is calling for NFL teams to change all field surfaces to natural grass, noting the higher rate of noncontact lower extremity injuries when playing on artificial turf.
The NFL issued a strongly worded memo to NFL coaches, general managers and team executives that said "accountability measures" for coaches who don't wear masks on the sideline "may include ... suspensions and/or forfeiture of draft picks."
Raiders owner Mark Davis said Tuesday that the team is looking into why several players were not wearing masks while attending a charity event held by teammate Darren Waller that broke Nevada rules for the pandemic and might have violated NFL regulations.
Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields are two quarterbacks everyone mentions when talking about top NFL draft prospects. Trey Lance? Heard of him? If not, now is the time to start paying attention to the North Dakota State star.
Three weeks into the season, the Seahawks are banged up. How banged up? A whopping 25 players appear on their Week Four injury report, only three of whom got time off for rest. The best news is that running back Chris Carson (pictured), who suffered a knee injury when having his knee twisted by Cowboys […]
Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has dealt with a lingering triceps issue since Week One. He now has an ankle injury to go with it. The Chargers’ practice report Wednesday shows Bosa didn’t practice with the two injuries. Tyrod Taylor (ribs/chest) remains out of practice and is expected to miss another game, though Anthony Lynn […]
Everyone knows the criticism of Drew Brees and talk that, at 41, the Saints quarterback is on his last legs. He is averaging an NFL-low 4.8 air yards per throw through three games, according to NFL Next Gen Stats, and his completion percentage of 70.2 is his lowest since 2016. His passer rating of 106.3, […]
Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins has caught 32 passes in three games. Whether he’ll add to that total this weekend against the Panthers currently is up in the air. Hopkins didn’t practice on Wednesday, due to an ankle injury. Ten Cardinals in all missed practice, and only two of them (receiver Larry Fitzgerald and defensive tackle […]
Dontari Poe this season became the first Cowboys player to protest during the national anthem. He continues to stand alone. The defensive tackle talked to reporters Wednesday for the first time since taking a knee in protest of social injustice and police brutality. “I felt like America, in the whole, wasn’t doing the right thing […]
On Monday night, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and several other teammates attended an event that had too many people at an indoor setting with no masks in sight. On Tuesday, the incident came to light. On Wednesday, Carr addressed his behavior. “I feel like, one, we’ve done a fantastic job around here,” Carr told reporters, […]
Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin did not make the 53-man roster at the start of the regular season and had offers to go elsewhere, but he never considered leaving. Griffin said today that when he cleared waivers before Week One, three teams contacted him, but he didn’t want to go elsewhere and signed with the Seahawks’ […]
The 49ers may not get quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo back for Sunday night’s game against the Eagles, but it does look like tight end George Kittle is ready to return. Kittle hurt his knee in the opener and missed the team’s two-game residency at MetLife Stadium as a result. He was back on the practice field […]
Kamalei Correa has become the latest Titans player to land on the COVID-19 list. The team placed the outside linebacker on the reserve list Wednesday. The NFL found no close contacts with Correa, a league spokesman told Erik Bacharach of The Tennessean. The NFL already has postponed the Titans-Steelers game, hoping to play it Monday […]
The Eagles have 52 players on their active roster. Nine sat out practice Wednesday and another four were limited. Running back Miles Sanders showed up on the practice report with a glute injury. He was limited. Receiver Alshon Jeffery (foot), right tackle Lane Johnson (ankle) and center Jason Kelce (rest) also were limited. Cornerback Trevor […]
Barring a further outbreak among the Titans, they’ll host the Steelers on Monday or Tuesday. Monday apparently is the target. Paul Kuharsky reports that the CBS crew that will be working the game has been told that it will happen on Monday night. This will give the Titans limited time to practice, if as expected […]
The Patriots have played without running back James White for the last two weeks as he’s been away from the team after his father was killed and his mother was injured in a car accident, but it looks like they’ll have him back for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. White was on the practice field […]
A pair of Jets wide receivers are listed as questionable for Thursday’s game against the Broncos. That’s a positive development for one of them. Jamison Crowder has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, so having a chance to play in this week’s game is a step in the right direction. Chris Hogan […]
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said left tackle Tyron Smith would return to practice on a limited basis Wednesday. Smith didn’t. The Cowboys’ practice report indicates Smith missed yet another practice, though he was on the field for rehab work when practice started. Smith has not practiced since Week One because of a stinger. He missed […]
San Francisco quarterback Nick Mullens played very well in place of an injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Sunday’s win over the Giants, and Mullens also played well in 2018 when he started half the season in place of an injured Garoppolo. But Mullens will continue to start only if Garoppolo is injured. That’s the word from […]
The Saints have been a bit off on offense all season, but they took a step in the right direction today. Via Amie Just of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, wide receiver Michael Thomas was back on the practice field Wednesday, during the period of practice reporters were allowed to attend. Thomas has been out since […]
The NFL postponed Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Titans on Wednesday because of a number of positive COVID-19 tests that have forced the Titans to close their practice facility this week. A new date for the game has not been settled at this point. The NFL said that playing on Monday or Tuesday is […]
The banged-up 49ers made a series of moves Wednesday. The signing of tight end Daniel Helm from the Buccaneers’ practice squad and the return of receiver Deebo Samuel to practice already were reported. The 49ers will have 21 days to activate Samuel to the 53-player roster. The 49ers also signed long snapper Taybor Pepper to […]
Eagles head coach Doug Pederson wasn’t willing to entertain a question about benching quarterback Carson Wentz earlier this week, but the fact that the question was asked illustrates how poorly the season has started in Philadelphia. Wentz has the lowest passer rating of any starting quarterback and he’s tied for the league lead in interceptions, […]
Tua Tagovailoa is back on the Dolphins’ injury report, but not for his hip. Tagovailoa, who came off the team’s practice report in Week Two, did not practice Wednesday because of an illness. Cornerback Byron Jones remains out of practice, which is not a good sign for his availability Sunday. Jones left the Week Two […]
