D’Qwell jackson to Visit with the Denver Broncos

D’Qwell Jackson has been released by the Browns and is a Free Agent looking for a home. Could he fit with the Denver Broncos?

Earlier this week, the cleveland Browns saw fit to part ways with Jackson. As a 7 year veteran he had several excellent seasons for the Browns. Even so, the new Browns front office decided it was time to move on and cut him, possibly due to his age and a hefty $8 million against the 2014 cap.

This however could be a very opportune moment for the Denver Broncos. Jason La Canfora from CBS is reporting that Jackson is scheduled to meet with Denver as well as the Tennessee Titans this weekend.

Middle linebacker has been a big issue for the Denver Broncos. I have stated previously that Denver has just gotten by at this position since Elway took over as VP of football operations. Joe Mays, Keith Brooking, Wesley Woodyard and Paris Lenon have tried to fill in, but the results have been less than expected and underwhelming to say the least.

Free Agency is usually where teams look for players to fill needs in the roster allowing for the ability to draft the best player possible in the NFL Draft, of course this is in a perfect world. If the Broncos do sign jackson for the right price, that would give them the ability to go for the BPA.

It is not a stretch to state that jackson still has some football life still left in the tank. In the 2013 season he ranked 141 among league leaders in tackles. He had one interception, 1.5 sacks and also seven pass breakups. Other notable FA on the market are San Diego’s Donald Butler, Arizona’s Karlos Dansby, New England’s Brandon Spikes, Baltimore’s Daryl Smith and the New York Giants’ Jon Beason and Jackson probably ranks behind Butler, Spikes and Dansby. However, his affordability makes him the most viable candidate for Denver.

In my view, when i look at the Broncos, i feel this would be an excellent move. Furthermore, having the former GM, Tom Heckert, in the Broncos front office just adds credibility to the fact that Jackson will end up signing with Denver.

So tell us, how do you feel about D’Qwell Jackson singning with the Orange and Blue?
